Outpatient therapy services at Easter Seals NH provides a unique approach that is family-centered. The understanding is that families know their children best and are better able to facilitate change when therapy is supported in carry-over strategies at home. This philosophy underlies all of our pediatric programs birth to 18 years.
We use functional activities to assist children who have difficulty participating in the normal occupations of childhood. Therapists assess and treat sensory processing skills, self-care, oral motor, feeding, visual perceptual and motor, fine motor, gross motor and play skills.
Therapists use purposeful activities to help children develop gross motor skills allowing them to participate in everyday movement activities. Therapists assess and treat strength, range of motion, endurance, coordination, posture, balance and gait.
Speech therapists address the individualized needs of children having difficulty with communication. Speech therapists assess and treat receptive and express language delays/disorders, articulation concerns and oral-motor function. Use of communication alternatives, such as sign language, picture exchange and augmentative devices can be utilized during treatment.
This gait training system is used with a treadmill or over ground and provides varying amounts of support to allow for development of more efficient walking skills.
Sensory Integrative Clinic
Everyday, children learn through their senses. Sensory Integration therapy assists those who have difficulty tolerating, responding and adapting to sensory information. Occupational therapists help create better body awareness, strengthen posture and coordinate movement.
