Easter Seals NH Farnum Center Expands Substance Abuse Treatment Program to Concord, NH

Facility to Open September 1, 2010

Easter Seals New Hampshire’s Farnum Center is pleased to announce the opening of a new Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Program on 10 Green Street in Concord, NH. The facility will open on September 1, 2010, and serve clients ages 17 and older whose use of alcohol or other drugs has impacted their ability to function successfully.

The satellite office will provide intensive outpatient substance abuse services including individual substance abuse counseling, evaluation and ten weeks of continuing care.

“There is a critical need for alcohol and substance abuse treatment services that are accessible, inclusive, and sustainable in New Hampshire,” said Larry Gammon, President and CEO of Easter Seals. “We are proud to expand our current services to be a part of the solution for the residents of our state.”

The Easter Seals NH Farnum Center in Manchester is a comprehensive, alcohol and substance abuse treatment facility that has offered residential and outpatient programs to people with substance abuse issues since 1981. In 2008-09, the Farnum Center served more than 1,040 individuals through its various programs.

“We offer clients a well-rounded, individualized treatment plan that helps them begin the lifelong process of recovery,” said Dr. Cheryl Wilkie, Senior Director of Substance Abuse Services for Easter Seals. “Our services give clients the knowledge that they need to manage stressful situations. It’s like using muscles that haven’t been exercised in a long time, at first it hurts, but as you continue to workout, you get stronger. It’s the same with recovery. As you get stronger, it’s easier to deal with the stress. Our clients are men and women who desire to live substance free lives, and we are here to do whatever it takes to help them meet their goals.”
