Your Attic Treasures Can Benefit Military Families Served By Easter Seals NH Veterans Count Program

NH Antique Appraisal Day at Pheasant Lane Mall Honors Fallen Marine

Rummage through your attic, garage and basement and haul in your mystery antique furniture, paintings, porcelain, silver, clocks, jewelry, watches or other favorite family keepsakes to learn the value and history at the 3rd Annual New Hampshire Appraisal Day on Saturday, November 12, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the lower level, by the staircase of the Pheasant Lane Mall. The New Hampshire Antique Co-op of Milford is partnering with the mall for this event that will benefit the Easter Seals New Hampshire Marine Cpl. Michael W. Ouellette Fund.

The Easter Seals fund, established by Donna Ouellette in memory of her son, decorated Marine Cpl. Michael Ouellette, a graduate of Manchester’s Memorial High School, who was killed in combat in Afghanistan in March 2009. The fund benefits veterans, services members and military families receiving assistance through Easter Seals New Hampshire Veterans Service Program. In addition to counseling, Easter Seals provides financial assistance for critical, basic needs such as food, housing, heating fuel, transportation, job training and more.

Appraisals are generously sponsored by New Hampshire Antique Co-op of Milford, NH, a family-run business now in its 29th year. The cost is $10 to have one item appraised or $25 for three items. All participants will be entered to win door prizes, generously donated by Mall tenants.   If items
are too big to carry, evaluations can also be made from photographs. Verbal appraisals will be given.

Past appraisal highlights include a ship portrait painting by listed American artist William Pierce Stubbs (1842-1909) valued at $7,500, a nineteenth-century pocket watch valued at $1,500, a Native American jewelry set valued at $1,500, and a pair of nineteenth-century unsigned paintings estimated at $2,000.

"We never know what might turn up on New Hampshire Appraisal Day," said Jason Hackler. "Every appraisal event brings in terrific surprises. Often it's something that someone's Grandma had that's worth thousands, or it might be a treasure found at a local flea market. New Hampshire homes are brimming with antiques waiting to be discovered. At one of our recent appraisal functions, a tall case clock came in valued at over $50,000!"
